Train with Hélène

Online Dog Training via FDSA

Hélène got her first dog, a border collie named Jake, in 1989 and has been training dogs ever since. Over the years, she has explored obedience, search and rescue, protection sports, rally, tricks, and freestyle, among others. She discovered agility in 2004, and herding in 2005. Herding quickly became her passion; she was so excited about it that she took lessons for a whole year without a dog!

In 2006, Hélène bought her first herding dog — a border collie named Hannah. Hannah was an amazing partner and teacher, and together they won the Ontario novice herding championship in their first year of competition.

Optimal Arounsal:
Consent and the Working Dog

6-Week Online Class

This course is about establishing and maintaining optimal arousal in the working dog. By “working dog”, I mean dogs who work in partnership with us, in high arousal, with strong drive / instinct for the job: herding, scent work (SAR, tracking, nose work etc.), protection, gun dog, mushing, and the like.

Herding Flatwork Foundations

6-Week Online Class

This course is designed to give you the tools and understanding you need to prepare yourself and your dog for herding.

Flatwork is the set of skills dogs need prior to going to stock (or, if your dog is already started, that you can develop in parallel with working stock).

Beyond the Click:
Adventures in +R2.0

6-Week Online Class

Beyond the Click (affectionately known as BtC) was inspired by the concept of +R2.0, a term coined by Amy Cook that so aptly encompasses the latest evolutions in positive-reinforcement-based training.

What is +R2.0? To me, in its essence, +R2.0 is both a philosophy and a set of skills and practices.
